Lyle Day, who has been an assistant softball coach at Illinois Wesleyan since 1995, has been a fixture on the Bloomington-Normal softball scene for a number of years at every level from youth up to college and beyond.

A member of the Illinois Amateur Softball Association Hall of Fame (elected in 1995), Lyle has been the head coach and general manager for the very successful Bloomington Lady Hearts, one of the first-ever travel teams, and has been instrumental in the success and continuation of the Bloomington-Normal Girls Softball Association.

Day began his IWU assistant coaching with head coach Mandy Neal (1995-2002) and has also worked with Beth Hasheider Williams (2003-05), Lloyd Hulit (2006-07), Steve King (2008-2013) and Kat McCreery (2014- ).
