Kimmy Hassel enters her seventh season as a part of the Illinois Wesleyan softball coaching staff in 2025.

Hassel graduated cum laude in 2014 from the University of St. Thomas (Minn.) with a double major in secondary education and family and consumer sciences. At St. Thomas, she was a three-year starter as a second baseman and played for teams that had a 160-30 (.842) record over her four years, won four regular season Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference championships and four MIAC playoff titles. She had a .400 career batting mark and hit .517 with runners in scoring position.

In 2012 and 2013, Hassel was a Division III All-American, first team all-conference and first team all-region. She was the MIAC 2012 Player of the Year and was an Academic All American in 2013.

A Bloomington-Normal native, Hassel is a 2009 graduate of Normal Community High School, where she was a three-year softball starter, a four-year basketball starter and was both teams' captain as a senior. She was the starting left fielder for the 2007 4A IHSA Softball state championship team, was a two-time all-Big 12 Conference selection and was named to the 2009 Chicago Tribune Super 60 Team.

Hassel played 13 years in the BNGSA organization. Her team won ASA Northern National Championships in 2004, 2006 and 2008, ASA State in 2010 and was the USSSA Women’s World Series Champions in 2012.

She has coaching experience at the junior high, high school, travel and college level. She is currently an assistant coach for the BNGSA Avanti’s Angels who won ASA and USSSA state championships and finished 17th at ASA Nationals in 2016.
