Denise Prather

Denise Prather became an assistant softball coach at Illinois Wesleyan for the 2016 season.

For the past three years, Prather has been the athletic trainer at Lake Land College in Mattoon, Ill., and has also coached the Mt. Zion Lady Braves, a competitive high school travel team, and the Premier Fastpitch 16U travel team.

Prior to joining Lake Land, Prather was an assistant softball coach at Millikin University where she helped bring the softball program its first College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin title in 20 years and two CCIW tournament appearances.

Prather is a 2009 graduate of the University of Illinois with a bachelor’s degree in kinesiology. She was a member of the athletic education program and became a certified athletic trainer.

In 2006 Prather was a member of the University of Illinois softball team and from 2006-09 she played on the Illinois club softball team, helping lead the team to national championships in 2007 and 2008.

A Mt. Zion (Ill.) High School graduate, Prather was twice chosen first team all-state and was named All-America twice.
