Randy Anderson Headshot

Randy Anderson

Assistant coach Randy Anderson began his life long passion for track and field while competing for Lexington (Ill.) High School in the early 1970s.

He ran 10.1 in the 100-yard dash, which converts to 11.00 for the 100 meter. That record stood for 23 years. He helped set the still-standing school record in the 400 relay (44.5) and the 800 relay (1:32.1) in 1973, the year Lexington swept those events in The Daily Pantagraph Honor Roll Meet.

Coach Anderson started as an assistant volunteer track coach for the Clinton (Ill.) girls junior high team in 1999. That year, the eighth grade 4x200 relay won the class AA state title and set the Clinton Junior High School record. In 2002, coach Anderson moved over to the high school and started working with the girls sprint program.
He became head coach in 2011 and from 2012 to 2015 his teams set 67 total records, 43 state qualifiers, 20 state medalists. The Maroons were sectional champions in 2013 and in 2015, all four Clinton High School relays records were broken. Throughout Anderson’s career, he produced 33 state medalists, 97 state qualifiers, and 73 school/meet records in IESA and IHSA competitions.

Anderson and his wife, Ann, are the owners of Anderson Ford in Clinton.

They have two daughters: Rachel, a 2008 Illinois Wesleyan graduate and 16-time NCCA All America and a seven-time NCCA national champion; and Rebecca, a sophomore at IWU, who was all-conference and named team's "Best Newcomer" in 2016.

Coach Anderson is Level 1 certified by USA Track and Field.
