Men's Tennis Year-by-Year Record
Jason Van Heuklon, who previously led the Titan men’s tennis program from 2006 to 2014, returned as IWU's head women's tennis coach prior to the 2022-23 season.
Van Heuklon enters his fourth season leading the women's tennis squad having coached two-time All-College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin honoree, Amber Ehrlich (2023-24, 2024-25). In his three years at the helm of the program, Van Heuklon's squad has twice earned ITA All-Academic Team honors. Additionally, Van Heuklon has seen 11 student-athletes earn ITA Scholar-Athlete honors, while four have earned CSC Academic All-District accolades.
In his eight seasons at the helm of the Titan men’s tennis program, Van Heuklon’s squads amassed 70 dual wins.
In 2010-11, Van Heuklon helped the Titans to 14 victories, and coached First Team All-College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin selection Brian Piotrowski, who earned the honor for three seasons in a row. Piotrowski paired with Brian Sorich to also earn Intercollegiate Tennis Association All-American status for their play as a doubles team, as the duo won the ITA Regional and finished the fall season ranked fourth nationally among Division III doubles teams at the small college national tournament. His 2009-10 team had a 15-8 dual match record and the 15 wins tied for second most in a single season for an IWU men's tennis team, behind only the 2004 squad (20-5) and tied with the 1997 team (15-5).
Prior to his original stint at IWU, he spent one year as an assistant coach at Morton High School and three years (2004-06) teaching the junior program at Bloomington's Evergreen Racquet Club.
A tennis player for more than 25 years, Van Heuklon is very active in the Bloomington-Normal tennis community. A graduate of Macomb, Ill., High School, Van Heuklon played collegiately at Illinois State University, where he received his bachelor's degree in physical education in 1997 and his master's degree in sports administration in 2002. Van Heuklon and his wife, Rachael (a former member of the Illinois State gymnastics team), were married in 2001 and are the parents of Katie, a current member of the IWU women's tennis team, and Cloe.
