Ben Stone was named head men's tennis coach at Illinois Wesleyan in August 2016.
"I am thrilled to join the Illinois Wesleyan family and coach the men's tennis team," said Stone, who is also an instructor at Bloomington's Evergreen Racquet Club. "My goal is to build the team into a force in our conference, while also building our players up to be men of integrity on and off the court. I hope that people will support the men's tennis team this next year as we build the foundation for the future."
Stone, whose full-time job is program assistant for student recruitment at Heartland Community College, is a 2011 graduate of Buena Vista University in Storm Lake, Iowa, where was a four-year letterman and two-year captain for the Beavers. As team captain at Buena Vista, he assisted the head coach with practices, recruiting and coordinating team travel.
A native of Bloomington, Ill., and a graduate of Normal University High School, Stone worked at Bloomington's State Farm Insurance from 2012-13 before beginning his position at Heartland. At Buena Vista, he was involved in student activities board, Liberty Hall council, and leadership roles in campus ministry and student retreats.
