Rachel Dawson joined the athletic training staff prior to the 2023-24 academic year. Dawson will work primarily with cross country, men's basketball and men's and women's tennis.

Dawson comes to IWU after serving as a graduate assistant at College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin foe, Augustana College. While receiving her Master's of Science in Kinesiology with a focus on sport and exercise psychology at Western Illinois University, Dawson spent the 2021-22 and 2022-23 academic years working with men's and women's basketball, football, women's lacrosse, men's and women's soccer, men's and women's swimming and diving, and men's and women's water polo at Augustana. In her first year at IWU, Dawson served as the athletic trainer for men's basketball and women's lacrosse.

A native of Ransom, Ill., Dawson received her undergraduate degree in athletic training from North Central College. During her four years at NCC, Dawson served as an athletic training student for men's basketball, men's and women's cross country, football, men's and women's lacrosse, men's and women's soccer, men's and women's track and field, and men's and women's wrestling. While at North Central, Dawson helped out at Downers Grove North High School as an athletic training student for boy's and girl's basketball, boy's and girl's track and field, and boy's wrestling for the spring semester of 2020 prior to the COVID-19 pandemic.
