Matt Willey was an assistant baseball coach on Dennis Martel's staff since 1997 before staying on for the Michael Kellar era beginning in 2025.

A full-time teacher of physical education at Bloomington Junior High School, Willey has a bachelor's degree from North Dakota State University.

He and his wife, Mary, are the parents of four children - Rebekah, Paul, Daniel and Adam.
