Sports Medicine Services

Athletic training encompasses the prevention, examination, diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation of emergent, acute or chronic injuries and medical conditions. Athletic training is recognized by the American Medical Association (AMA), Health Resources Services Administration (HRSA) and the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) as an allied health care profession. As allied healthcare professionals, the IWU Sports Medicine Staff is committed to serving IWU student-athletes with the best care and resources available.

In addition to the services listed above, the IWU Sports Medicine staff is also versed in manual therapy techniques, strength and conditioning, and operates out of two fully stocked Athletic Training Rooms allowing for thorough rehabilitation for return to sport activity. Each Athletic Training Room has a separate wet room that contains two whirlpools with access for either hot or cold water immersion, along with rehabilitation areas complete with a small assortment of free weights, exercise bands, exercise balls, and other rehabilitation equipment.
