Ehrlich and Michel Ready for ITA Regional

Action begins Friday, Sept. 25

BLOOMINGTON, Ill.- Two members of the Illinois Wesleyan University women's tennis team venture to Kalamazoo, Mich. for the ITA Central Regional Tournament, Friday-Sunday, Sept. 25-27. Senior Amber Ehrlich (Springfield, Ill.-Glenwood) and freshman Alassea Michel (Dunlap, Ill.-Dunlap) will represent IWU against the region's best.

Ehrlich makes her third appearance at the event. Last season, she went 1-1 in singles, making the round of 64 with a 6-2, 6-2 defeat of Maddalena Elisa Rosati Dumangane of the Illinois Institute of Technology. In doubles alongside then-junior Olivia Bell (Bloomington, Ill.-Bloomington), the tandem took down Natalie Labicki and Ivana Stefanova of Monmouth to advance to the round of 32.

This season, Ehrlich holds a 2-3 mark in singles along with a 3-2 record in doubles. Ehrlich and Michel teamed up for a 6-3 win over North Park University's Tyra Olsson and Alexandra Pugachova Saturday, Sept. 19. In her inaugural season, Michel currently is 2-3 in singles and 3-2 in doubles, primarily playing at the No. 2 spot in both.

Ehrlich begins her tournament tomorrow, Sept. 25 in the round of 128 at 11:30 a.m. ET against Case Western Reserve University's Victoria Vasquez. The winner of that match will meet 9-16 seed Cassandra Li of WashU at 2:30 p.m. ET.

Michel takes on Annamarie Stogsdill of Hanover College in the round of 128 at 10:30 a.m. ET with 9-16 seed Lily Zawaneh of the University of Chicago awaiting the winner at 1:30 p.m. ET.

In doubles, Ehrlich and Michel take on College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin foes Anna-Maria Huebel and Colleen Larry of Augustana College in the round of 64 at 8 a.m. ET. While the two tandems have yet to meet, the Vikings' top team defeated Ehrlich and Bell, Sept. 12. The winner meets the top seed, Eleanor Archer and Caitlin Bui of WashU at 9 a.m. ET.
