WARRENSVILLE, ILL. - The Illinois Wesleyan University men's and women's cross country teams finished action at the Gil Dodds Invitational, hosted by Wheaton College Friday Sept. 18. On a cool evening at St. James Farm Forest Preserve in Warrenville, Ill., the Titan men's squad claimed 11th place, while the women's team finished third. 

Freshman Jordan Sutter (Grayslake, Ill.-Grayslake Central) led the Titans with a 19th-place finish in her collegiate debut, crossing the line in 23:01.5. Sophomore Meghan Zopel (Peoria, Ill.-Peoria Notre Dame) paced a tight Titans pack in 31st-place, followed closely by sophomore Alexia Spatz (Spring Grove, Ill.-Richmond-Burton) in 32nd and freshman Matylda Maciejczyk (Algonquin, Ill.-Harry D. Jacobs High School) in 33rd.

On the men's side, junior Jack Thomas (Bloomington, Ill.-Normal Community) led the way for Illinois Wesleyan, recording a time of 26:50.7 to finish 37th. Senior Aidan Nishimura (Arlington Heights, Ill.-Hersey) and freshman Colin Heath (Normal, Ill.-Normal Community) were the next finishers for the Titans, claiming 68th and 102nd, respectively.

After taking next weekend off, the men's and women's cross country teams venture to Terre Haute, Ind., for the Nike XC Town Twilight on Friday Oct. 2. The races will be held at the LaVern Gibson Championship Cross Country Course.
