Men’s Lacrosse Hosts Calvin for Saturday Contest

Titans take on Knights at 12 p.m.

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - The Illinois Wesleyan University men's lacrosse team returns home after four road games, as the Titans (6-4) host Calvin University Saturday, March 28. Action is set to begin at 12 p.m.

Illinois Wesleyan enters the contest off a 17-6 win at Wabash College Wednesday, March 25. Junior Timothy McHugh (Orland Park, Ill.-Mount Carmel) led the offense with six points on an even split of three goals and three assists. The junior also notched his 100th career assist, becoming the seventh Titan in program history to do so. Sophomore Owen Miller (Brookfield, Wis.-Brookfield Central) and freshman Holden Webster (Centennial, Colo.-Arapahoe) each tallied a team-high four goals, while sophomore Charlie Burghardt (Milwaukee, Wis.-Brookfield Central) registered a team-best four assists. Senior Michael Rocco (Libertyville, Ill.-Libertyville) and sophomore Matt Arnold (Arlington Heights, Ill.-Prospect) each won eight faceoffs, while Rocco scooped up a team-leading five ground balls. Senior Karsten Nordlie (Roscoe, Ill.-Hononegah Community) and sophomore Jake Sline (Homewood, Ill.-Homewood Flossmoor) each finished with two caused turnovers to lead the defense, and sophomore Jaymeson Zackery (Saint Paul, Minn.-Eastview) logged the win in goal behind seven saves. 

Timothy McHugh leads the offense with 34 points, composed of a team-best 15 assists, while his 19 goals sit second. Junior Jake Kahoun (Worthington, Ohio-Thomas Worthington) is second with 23 points, aided by a team-best 20 goals. Webster rounds out the top three with 19 points, as his 17 goals are the third-most on the team. Burghardt sits second on the squad with 12 assists. Senior Cole Kennedy (Walnut Creek, Calif.-De La Salle) is third with five helpers. 

At the X, Rocco leads the Green and White with an 80-of-147 showing, good for a .544 faceoff win percentage. Arnold follows, having gone 52-of-101, a .515 clip. Zackery leads the team in ground balls, having scooped up 42 on the year. Rocco and Timothy McHugh are tied for second with 34 ground balls apiece. 

Defensively, senior Billy McHugh (Orland Park, Ill.-Mount Carmel) leads the team in caused turnovers with 22. Nordlie follows with 14 forced miscues, while senior Kaden Gammelgaard (Lake Zurich, Ill.-Lake Zurich) and freshman Tyce Baldwin (Aurora, Colo.-Grandview) closely follow with 13 each. Together the group leads an IWU defense that ranks fourth nationally in caused turnovers per game with an average of 14.60. 

With 558:13 minutes logged in goal, Zackery sits atop the team in saves, having recorded 116. He brings in a .545 save percentage and a record of 6-4 into Saturday's contest. 

The Titans will take on the Knights (7-1) for the second time, with the only previous meeting occurring a season ago. Illinois Wesleyan won the matchup, 18-15, March 22, 2025. Timothy McHugh powered the offense with nine points on team-highs of five goals and four assists. Nick Schroeder finished with the team-lead in ground balls, scooping up 11 behind a 18-of-29 showing at the X. Billy McHugh anchored the defense with five caused turnovers, while Colin Tervo notched the win in goal, using 12 saves to do so. Calvin enters the weekend off a 9-7 win over North Central College Saturday, March 21.
