Kuziela Earns Fourth CCIW Setter of the Week Honor

Setter led Titans to two key wins

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - For the fourth time this season, sophomore Ethan Kuziela (Chicago, Ill.-Marist) of the Illinois Wesleyan University men's volleyball team was named the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin Setter of the Week, announced by the organization Monday, March 2.

Kuziela earns his fourth career honor, as he previously earned the accolade this year on Jan. 19, Feb. 9, and Feb. 16. It is the seventh CCIW honor for the Titans this season, as freshman Aydin Provost (Chicago, Ill.-Mount Carmel) has been named the CCIW Hitter of the Week three times (Jan. 19, Feb. 2, Feb. 16).

Kuziela orchestrated the Illinois Wesleyan offense to a 2-0 week, securing two big College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin wins including the first victory over North Central College in program history. The Titans also broke the program's single-season wins record, as they notched their 13th of the season over Augustana College Wednesday night, Feb. 25. For the week, Kuziela finished with 58 assists, an average of 6.44 per set, 34 kills, averaging 3.78 per set, 18 digs, an average of two per set, eight blocks, averaging 0.89 per set, and two aces.

The sophomore opened the week with 31 assists, 14 kills, six digs, three blocks, and an ace in the four-set win over Augustana. Kuziela followed with one of his best performances of all time against North Central Saturday, Feb. 28, including his fourth triple-double performance. Kuziela led the team with 20 kills, a new career-high, 27 assists, and 12 digs, along with tying his career-high of five blocks, and adding an ace. Kuziela leads Division III in triple-doubles this season, and is a key part of the IWU offense that leads the nation in kills per set and assists per set.

Kuziela and the Titans hit the road to No. 11 Loras College for a date with the Duhawks Wednesday night, March 4. First serve is scheduled for 7 p.m. inside Lillis Athletic & Wellness Center.
