CCIW Release

NAPERVILLE, Ill. - Illinois Wesleyan University men's volleyball sophomore Ethan Kuziela (Chicago, Ill.-Marist) was named the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin Setter of the Week for the second time this season, as the league announced the weekly award winners Monday, Feb. 9. It is the second accolade of Kuziela's career, as he earned his first nod Jan. 19.

Kuziela orchestrated the IWU offense to a 1-1 week, including a win over No. 19 Milwaukee School of Engineering. For the week, Kuziela recorded 18 kills, an average of 2.25 per set on a .333 attack percentage, 43 assists, an average of 5.38 per set, four aces, averaging 0.50 per set, six digs, and six blocks, for a total of 25.5 points.

In the five-set loss at Dominican University, a team receiving votes in the AVCA poll, Thursday night, Feb. 5, Kuziela recorded nine kills, 24 assists, tied his career-high of three aces, two digs, and three blocks. He followed with a strong performance to lead IWU to its second-ever ranked win, as the Titans swept MSOE Sunday, Feb. 8. Kuziela posted nine kills on a .529 clip, not committing a single attack error on 17 swings, 19 assists in a match that saw IWU hit .414 as a team, four digs, three blocks, and an ace to contribute 12 points.

The award brings IWU's total to four honorees this season, as Kuziela and freshman Aydin Provost (Chicago, Ill.-Mount Carmel) each have reeled in honors twice. Provost joined Kuziela on Jan. 19 list, as he earned the hitter of the week accolade, and notched his second honor Feb. 2.

Kuziela and the Titans return to action Thursday night, Feb. 12, as they take on Concordia University Wisconsin at 7 p.m. on the road.
