Men’s Volleyball Hosts No. 19 MSOE for Sunday Matinee

Titans take on Raiders at 12 p.m.

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - The Illinois Wesleyan University men's volleyball team hosts No. 19 Milwaukee School of Engineering for a Sunday afternoon contest, Feb. 8. Action is set for 12 p.m. inside Shirk Center.

The Titans (8-3) enter off a five-set loss at Dominican University Thursday night, Feb. 5. Coming up just short in the comeback, IWU's offense was led by 16 kills from junior Bryce Williams (Chicago, Ill.-Whitney M. Young). Sophomore Ethan Kuziela (Chicago, Ill.-Marist) recorded team-highs of 24 assists and three aces. Fellow sophomores Gavin Rohlwing (Tower Lake, Ill.-Barrington) and Ben Zima (Glen Ellyn, Ill.-Glenbard South) led the defense. Rohlwing recorded a team-high four blocks, while Zima registered 11 digs. 

Freshman Aydin Provost (Chicago, Ill.-Mount Carmel) leads the IWU offense with 122 kills, an average of 3.49 per set, doing so on a .387 attack percentage. Kuziela sits second with 90 kills, averaging 2.43 per set, followed by 83 kills from Williams. Kuziela and Provost are one-two on the team in aces, with 14 and 12, respectively. Williams and freshman Dylan Quinn (Downers Grove, Ill.-Downers Grove North) are tied for third with eight aces apiece. 

With 259 assists, Kuziela leads the offense, as he is averaging seven helpers per set. Junior Brenden Reutter (Frankfort, Ill.-Lincoln-Way East) is second with 102 assists, an average of 3.95 per set. Together, the duo have orchestrated a Green and White offense that is hitting .284 on the season. 

Defensively, Zima holds the team-high in digs with 104, averaging 2.81 per set. Kuziela follows with 60, while Provost rounds out the top three with 43. Quinn's 28 blocks are the most by a Titan, followed by 21 from Kuziela, and Provost with 19. As a team, Illinois Wesleyan's defense is limiting its opponents to a .189 clip.

IWU and MSOE (4-2) will meet for the first time in program history. The Raiders two losses on the season have come at the hands of College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin foes, then-No. 14 Loras College and No. 2 Carthage College. MSOE will take on Augustana College Saturday, Feb. 7, before making the trek to Bloomington.
