Men’s Volleyball Hosts North Central for Saturday CCIW Clash

Titans take on Cardinals at 3 p.m.

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - The Illinois Wesleyan University men's volleyball team hosts North Central College for a College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin match Saturday, Feb. 28. The Titans enter the contest with a 13-4 record, and are 1-1 in conference action, while North Central sits at 7-6 overall, and is also 1-1 in league play. Action is slated to begin at 3 p.m. inside a busy Shirk Center, which is also playing host to the CCIW Indoor Track & Field Championships and CCIW Men's Basketball Tournament Friday-Saturday, Feb. 27-28.

Illinois Wesleyan most recently defeated Augustana College in four sets Wednesday, Feb. 25. Sophomore Ethan Kuziela (Chicago, Ill.-Marist) led the team with 14 kills and 31 assists, while junior Bryce Williams (Chicago, Ill.-Whitney M. Young) tallied a team-best 10 digs. Sophomores Gavin Rohlwing (Tower Lake, Ill.-Barrington) and Wilson Spaulding (Tucson, Ariz.-Catalina Foothills) tied for the team-high in blocks with four apiece. 

The Green and White enter the weekend with one of the best offenses in Division III. The Titans lead the nation in kills per set (13.58), assists per set (12.47) and have the 20th-highest hitting percentage (.275). Leading the way is freshman Aydin Provost (Chicago, Ill.-Mount Carmel) with 203 kills, an average of 3.44 per set. Kuziela follows with 166, an average of 2.72 per set, while Williams has 151 on the season. The trio also leads the Titans from the service line, as Kuziela and Provost have 17 aces, followed by Williams with 16.

Kuziela and junior Brenden Reutter (Frankfort, Ill.-Lincoln-Way East) have orchestrated the attack all season. Kuziela leads the way with 425 assists, an average of 6.97 per set. Reutter has totaled 213 helpers, averaging 4.26 per set.

Defensively, sophomore Ben Zima (Glen Ellyn, Ill.-Glenbard South) holds the team-lead in digs with 171. His average of 2.80 per set ranks 21st nationally. Kuziela and Williams follow with 111 and 80 digs, respectively. Freshman Dylan Quinn (Downers Grove, Ill.-Downers Grove North) has 43 blocks on the season, the most by a Titan. Kuziela's 33 rejections are good for third, while Rohlwing has registered 30 stuffs. 

IWU and NCC will meet for the 11th time, with the Cardinals having won all previous matchups. Most recently, Illinois Wesleyan fell in straight sets March 22, 2025. Kuziela led the team with 10 kills on a .500 attack percentage, while a trio of Titans notched a team-best five digs. Jake Kougan finished with two rejections to lead the net defense. Vince DiCosola, who will come back to the Shirk Center as a part of NCC's coaching staff, led the Green and White with 14 assists.
