Men’s Volleyball Takes on Augustana in Midweek Match

Titans travel to Rock Island, Ill. Wednesday, Feb. 25

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - The Illinois Wesleyan University men's volleyball team will make the trip to Augustana College for a Wednesday night College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin contest, Feb. 25. First serve inside Roy J. Carver Center is slated for 7 p.m.

The Titans (12-4, 0-1 CCIW) enter the match off a four-set loss to No. 5 Carthage College to begin conference play Thursday, Feb. 19. Sophomore Ethan Kuziela (Chicago, Ill.-Marist) led the offense with a 11-kill, 20-assist double-double performance. Sophomore Gavin Rohlwing (Tower Lake, Ill.-Barrington) finished with a team-best three blocks to guide the defense, while sophomore Ben Zima (Glen Ellyn, Ill.-Glenbard South) tallied a team-high seven digs.

As a team, Illinois Wesleyan leads the nation in kills per set (13.58) and assists per set (12.42). Freshman Aydin Provost (Chicago, Ill.-Mount Carmel) sits atop the Titans with 191 kills, as the freshman is averaging 3.47 kills per set on a .333 attack percentage. His kills per set mark ranks second in the CCIW, and is 31st nationally, while his 4.04 points per set ranks 26th in Division III. Kuziela sits second on the squad with 152 kills, averaging 2.67 per set on a .328 clip. Junior Bryce Williams (Chicago, Ill.-Whitney M. Young) rounds out the top three hitters with 139 kills, an average of 2.96 per set.

Kuziela and junior Brenden Reutter (Frankfort, Ill.-Lincoln-Way East) have orchestrated the majority of a Titan offense that ranks 16th nationally with a hitting percentage of .280. Kuziela has accumulated 394 assists, an average of 6.91 per set, while he leads the country with three triple-double performances. Reutter follows with 196 assists, an average of 4.26 per set. Kuziela and Williams lead the Green and White from the service line with 16 aces, while Provost closely follows with 15.

On the defensive end, Zima holds the team-lead in digs with 163 on the season. His average of 2.86 digs per set sits 21st nationally, and third in the conference. Kuziela follows with 105 digs, and Williams' 70 rank third on the team. Freshman Dylan Quinn (Downers Grove, Ill.-Downers Grove North) has made his net presence known, as he leads the team in blocks with 43. Kuziela follows with 30, and Provost rounds out the top three with 29 rejections.

IWU and Augie (6-3, 1-0 CCIW) will meet for the 11th time, with the Vikings holding a 7-3 edge in the series. The two teams split a season ago, with Augustana taking the most recent matchup in straight sets March 15, 2025. Reutter and Kuziela led the Titans with 10 kills apiece, while Vince DiCosola dished out a team-high 18 assists. Williams notched the team-lead in blocks and digs, recording two and seven, respectively. The Vikings enter the clash off a four-set win over St. Ambrose University Monday, Feb. 23.
