Men’s Lacrosse Makes Trek to DePauw

Titans battle Tigers at 7 p.m. ET

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - After enjoying three games at home to open the 2026 season, the Illinois Wesleyan University men's lacrosse team will embark on its first road trip of the season Wednesday, Feb. 25. The Titans (1-2) will make the trip to DePauw University to take on the Tigers (1-1) at 7 p.m. ET inside Reavis Stadium. 

The Green and White look to get back into the win column after dropping its most recent game, 15-14, to Aurora University Saturday, Feb. 21. Juniors Jake Kahoun (Worthington, Ohio-Thomas Worthington) and Timothy McHugh (Orland Park, Ill.-Mount Carmel) led the offense with four points apiece, with Kahoun's coming all by way of goals. McHugh posted a hat trick to go along with an assist. Senior Karsten Nordlie (Roscoe, Ill.-Hononegah Community) led the team with six ground balls, while a trio of Titans each finished with two caused turnovers. Sophomore Jaymeson Zackery (Saint Paul, Minn.-Eastview) notched 13 saves in 60 minutes in goal.

Three games into the season, Kahoun leads the team with nine points and nine goals. Timothy McHugh follows with seven points, composed of five goals and two assists. Senior Noah Dretzka (Delafield, Wis.-Kettle Moraine) and freshman Brody Jones (Boring, Ore.-West Linn) each have five points, with each having recorded four goals and a helper. Senior Billy McHugh (Orland Park, Ill.-Mount Carmel), and sophomores Owen Miller (Brookfield, Wis.-Brookfield Central) and Jake Sline (Homewood, Ill.-Homewood-Flossmoor) are tied with Timothy McHugh atop the team with two assists each.

Zackery leads the Green and White with 21 ground balls, an average of seven per game. Senior Michael Rocco (Libertyville, Ill.-Libertyville) and Nordlie follow with 13 and 12 ground balls, respectively. Rocco leads the team at the X, as he has gone 30-for-52, a faceoff win percentage of .577. 

Defensively, Billy McHugh has totaled nine caused turnovers, an average of three per game, the 24th-best mark in Division III. Zackery and senior Kaden Gammelgaard (Lake Zurich, Ill.-Lake Zurich) closely follow with eight apiece. Together, the trio help lead a Titan defense that is tied for the most caused turnovers in the nation, as they enter Wednesday averaging 20.33 forced miscues per game. 

In goal for the Green and White, Zackery has logged all 180 minutes between the iron. The sophomore has made 39 saves on 118 shots faced, and owns a .506 save percentage. He brings in a goals allowed average of 12.38. 

IWU owns a 5-0 record against DePauw, and took the most recent meeting, 32-7, Feb. 22, 2021. Rick Smith and Griffin DeMilt led the offense with seven points each, as both recorded five goals and a pair of assists. Zac Taylor led the Titans with nine ground balls, while he and Max Bousky each won 16 faceoffs. Blake Muschewske notched a team-high three caused turnovers. Spending 38:24 minutes between the pipes, Will Harris was credited with the win after making seven saves while allowing three goals. The Tigers enter the contest off a 12-5 loss to College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin foe Carthage College Saturday, Feb. 21.
