NAPERVILLE, Ill. - For the second time this season, the duo of freshman Aydin Provost (Chicago, Ill.-Mount Carmel) and sophomore Ethan Kuziela (Chicago, Ill.-Marist) of the Illinois Wesleyan University men's volleyball team paired up to earn College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin Players of the Week honors, announced by the organization Monday, Feb. 16. Provost was tabbed as hitter of the week, while Kuziela earned setter of the week honors for the second straight week.

Both Provost and Kuziela earn the third weekly accolade of their careers, all coming this season. Provost has previously earned top hitter honors Jan. 19 and Feb. 6, while Kuziela was the setter of the week Jan. 19 and Feb. 9. It marks the most weekly awards by a Titan in both a season and a career.

Provost led the IWU offense to a 3-0 week that saw the Titans achieve their program-best start as they sit at 12-3 on the season, already tying the most wins in a season in program history while rewriting the record book in many ways. For the week, Provost recorded 54 kills, an average of 4.15 per set, doing so on a .279 clip. He added nine digs, two aces, and seven blocks for a total of 60 points on the week, an average of 4.62 per set.

Opening the week with a bang, Provost put up 25 kills on a .386 showing in the four-set win at Concordia University Wisconsin Thursday night, Feb. 12. The 25 kills broke the single-match record, in a night that saw the Green and White also break the team kills record for a match. Provost added four digs, two blocks, and an ace in the win, as he also established a new school record for points in a match, finishing with 27.5. The freshman followed with 17 kills, four digs, and three blocks in the five-set victory over Wisconsin Lutheran College Saturday, Feb. 14, as the Titans reset the record for kills in a match. Provost closed out his stellar week with 12 kills, two blocks, a dig, and an ace in the four-set win against Westminster College Saturday evening.

Kuziela orchestrated the IWU offense during the record-breaking week. Over three matches, Kuziela posted two triple-double performances, narrowly missing a third, tied for the most assists in a four-set match, and guided a Green and White offense to two straight matches of setting the school record for team kills in a contest. For the week, Kuziela recorded 42 kills, an average of 3.23 per set on a .387 clip, 96 assists, averaging 7.38 per set, 35 digs, an average of 2.69 per set, four blocks, and an ace. The setter helped set an IWU attack that hit .257 for the week.

Kuziela put up career-highs of 18 kills on a .533 clip and 14 digs, to close out his second career triple-double with 34 assists in the four-set win at Concordia Wisconsin Thursday night, Feb. 12. The 34 helpers tied IWU's record for assists in a four-set match, while the setter led IWU to a program-record 68 kills in the contest. Continuing his stellar week, Kuziela registered his second consecutive triple-double with 12 kills, 33 assists, and 13 digs, along with a block, in the five-set victory over Wisconsin Lutheran Saturday, Feb. 14. The setter once again led a Green and White offense to a program-high, as the Titans finished with 76 kills. Kuziela closed out the week with 12 kills, 29 assists, eight digs, and two blocks, narrowly missing his third straight triple-double, as IWU defeated Westminster Saturday afternoon.

Illinois Wesleyan opens conference action at No. 3 Carthage College Thursday night, Feb. 19. Action is slated to begin at 7 p.m. inside Tarble Arena.
