BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - The Illinois Wesleyan University men's volleyball team returns home to host the IWU Triangular II Saturday, Feb. 14. The three-match day inside Shirk Center will feature the Titans (10-3) taking on Wisconsin Lutheran College and Westminster College at 11 a.m. and 4 p.m., respectively. The two visitors will play in a neutral site contest at 1:30 p.m.

IWU enters the weekend off a record-breaking night at Concordia University Wisconsin Thursday, Feb. 12, as the win tied the program's best start. Freshman Aydin Provost (Chicago, Ill.-Mount Carmel) took down two records, both held by now-assistant coach Mike Eastman, as his 25 kills and 27.5 points set single-match records. Sophomore Ethan Kuziela (Chicago, Ill.-Marist) notched the second triple-double of his career, and the fourth in IWU history, led by 34 assists, a mark that ties for the most in a four-set match and second all-time. Junior Bryce Williams (Chicago, Ill.-Whitney M. Young) became the second Titan to record 500 career kills, as his 11 last night helped him reach the milestone. As a team, the Green and White took down the single-match kills record, totaling 68 in the victory.

Provost leads the Green and White offense with 155 kills. His average of 3.69 kills per set ranks 19th in Division III, while his attack percentage of .291 sits 26th. Kuziela is second with 117 kills, an average of 2.66 per set, having done so on a .336 clip. Williams rounds out the top three with 100 kills, averaging 2.92 per set. Together, the three lead an IWU offense that ranks second nationally in kills per set with an average of 13.55, while the team hitting percentage of .292 is 16th.

Orchestrating the majority of the offensive attack are Kuziela and junior Brenden Reutter (Frankfort, Ill.-Lincoln-Way East). Kuziela leads the way with 312 assists, an average of 7.09 per set, while Reutter follows with 133, averaging 4.33 per set. The duo have helped IWU rank third nationally in assists per set, as the Titans hold an average of 12.28. Kuziela also sits atop the team in aces with 16, followed by Provost's 13, and 10 from Williams. Averaging 1.81 aces per set, the Green and White rank first in the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin, and are 29th amongst Division III.

Defensively, sophomore Ben Zima (Glen Ellyn, Ill.-Glenbard South) has led the back row efforts with a team-leading 123 digs. Averaging 2.80 digs per set, Zima sits third in the CCIW and 24th in the nation. Kuziela's 78 digs are good for second on the squad, while senior Jace Milka (Bolingbrook, Ill.-Plainfield East) rounds out the top three with 51. Making a quick impression in his freshman campaign, Dylan Quinn (Downers Grove, Ill.-Downers Grove North) leads the Green and White with 35 blocks, an average of 0.83 per set. Kuziela and Provost follow with 25 and 23 rejections, respectively.

The Titans will take on Wisconsin Lutheran (5-1) for the third time with both previous meetings occurring in the Shirk Center. IWU has won both previous battles, and took the latest matchup in four sets Feb. 9, 2024. Luke Hartke led the offense with 12 kills, while Bradley Benson tallied a team-best 22 assists. The two, along with Milka, finished tied for the lead in aces with three apiece. Williams and Blake McGlashan-Bryant each finished with eight digs to guide the Green and White defense. Now-assistant coach Alec Mucha posted a team-high three blocks. The Warriors come to town off a three-set loss to North Central College Friday, Feb. 6.

Illinois Wesleyan will meet Westminster (11-3) on the court for the first time, as the Blue Jays are in just their second season of collegiate competition. WC most recently defeated Greenville University in straight sets Wednesday, Feb. 11.
