Men’s Volleyball Makes Trek to Indiana for Wabash Tri

Titans to take on Little Giants & Maranatha Baptist

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - After a brief home stint, the Illinois Wesleyan University men's volleyball team will travel to Crawfordsville, Ind. to partake in the Wabash Triangular, hosted by Wabash College, Saturday, Jan. 31. IWU (6-2) will take on Maranatha Baptist University at 11 a.m. ET before facing the Little Giants at 1 p.m. ET. 

Illinois Wesleyan enters the weekend off a sweep over Rockford University Tuesday night, Jan. 27. The victory saw 10 Titans record a kill, led by eight from freshman Aydin Provost (Chicago, Ill.-Mount Carmel). Sophomore Ethan Kuziela (Chicago, Ill.-Marist) registered a team-high 16 assists, while tying a career-best three aces. He also added seven kills, three digs, and a trio of blocks to his stat line. 

Provost leads the Titans with 98 kills on the season, an average of 3.63 kills per set, doing so on a .401 clip. Kuziela sits second with 72 kills, averaging 2.48 per set. Junior Bryce Williams (Chicago, Ill.-Whitney M. Young) rounds out the top three with 54 kills, an average of 2.84 per set. Together, the trio leads a squad that ranks third nationally in kills per set, and first in the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin, as the Green and White hold an average of 13.79.

Illinois Wesleyan is also third in the country in assists per set with an average of 12.52. Leading the way, Kuziela has 216 assists to his name already this season. The sophomore is averaging 7.45 per set. Junior Brenden Reutter (Frankfort, Ill.-Lincoln-Way East) is second with 78 assists, an average of 4.33 per set. Together, the tandem orchestrate an offense that is hitting .269 on the season. With nine aces on the year, Kuziela leads the team, followed by Provost's eight, and seven from freshman Dylan Quinn (Downers Grove, Ill.-Downers Grove North)

Defensively, sophomore Ben Zima (Glen Ellyn, Ill.-Glenbard South) holds the team lead in digs with 87. His average of three per set sits 19th in Division III and second in the CCIW. Kuziela's 49 digs are good for second on the team, and senior Jace Milka (Bolingbrook, Ill.-Plainfield East) and Provost are tied for third with 37. With 24 blocks, Quinn holds the team-high in rejections. Kuziela is second with 18, followed by 14 from Provost. 

IWU will face Maranatha Baptist (0-3) for the first time in program history. MBU most recently fell to St. Norbert College Thursday, Jan. 29. 

The Titans will take on the Little Giants for the fifth time, with Illinois Wesleyan holding the 3-1 advantage. In the most recent meeting, the Green and White defeated Wabash in five sets Feb. 9, 2025. Williams led the match with 21 kills, committing only one attack error for a .645 attack percentage. Milka tallied a team-best eight digs. Then-freshman Gavin Rohlwing (Tower Lake, Ill.-Barrington) notched a match-best eight digs, and Vince DiCosola accrued 23 assists. Wabash will open its season against IWU.
