Men’s Golf Records Runner-Up Finish at Carthage Fall Classic

KENOSHA, Wis. - The fourth-ranked Illinois Wesleyan University men's golf team finished runner-up at the Carthage Firebird Fall Classic after a final round 285 at the par-72, 6,658-yard Strawberry Creek Golf Club. The Titans finished with a total score of three-under, 571.

Senior Myles Lahart (Park Ridge, Ill.-Maine South) recorded the best finish of his career, landing in second place after rounds of 68 and 71 to complete the tournament at five-under. Four other Titans also finished in the top-10, including sophomore Pablo Castro (Palatine, Ill.-Palatine) who recorded back-to-back even par 72s to finish in eighth-place. Freshman Jared Code (Calgary, Alberta, Canada-Ernest Manning), who played as an individual, along with senior Michael Spitzer (Hinsdale, Ill.-Hinsdale Central) and sophomore Joey Sluzas (Lockport, Ill.-Lockport) earned a share of ninth at 145.

The Titans battled with eventual champions, tenth-ranked Aurora University, throughout the final round. Aurora shot a seven-under, 281 in the final round, edging out the Green and White by three shots. Central College (Iowa), host Carthage College, and Millikin University and Hope College rounded out the top-five teams. Aurora's Jackson Hulsey won the tournament, recording a two-day score of 10-under par.

The Titans return to the Badger State next week, Sunday-Monday, Sept. 14-15, for the Wrigglesworth Invitational, hosted by University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire. The tournament will be played at Eau Claire Country Club.
