Two Titans in Top-Five After Round One of Carthage Fall Classic

Round two to be contested at Strawberry Creek

STURTEVANT, Wis. - The Illinois Wesleyan University men's golf team sits in first place by a slim margin after round one of the Carthage Firebirds Fall Classic. After firing a two-under 286 at the 6965-yard Ives Grove Golf Links on Monday, Sept. 8, the Titans turn their attention to the final round, played at Strawberry Creek Golf Club, on Tuesday, Sept. 9.

A two-under round of 286 places the Titans just one shot ahead of second place Aurora University. College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin foes Carthage College and Wheaton College sit in third and fourth place, respectively, while Central College (Iowa) rounds out the top-five teams. Aurora's Jackson Hulsey is atop the individual leaderboard after an impressive round of 65 (-7).

Senior Myles Lahart (Park Ridge, Ill.-Maine South) sits in third place individually and was the low man for the Titans after firing a career-best four-under round of 68. Freshman Jared Code (Calgary, Alberta, Canada-Ernest Manning), playing as an individual, also sits in the top-10 after his round of 70. Senior Juney Bai (Mokena, Ill.-Lincoln-Way Central) and sophomore Pablo Castro (Palatine, Ill.-Palatine) each recorded even-par rounds of 72 and are just outside the top-10.

The final round at Strawberry Creek Golf Club tomorrow, Sept. 9, as the Titan's first tee time will be 9:30 a.m.
