Women’s Tennis Lifts Lid Against Lawrence

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - The Illinois Wesleyan University women's tennis team opens its 2025 fall slate at home against Lawrence University at Evergreen Racquet Club Thursday, Sept. 2. First serve is scheduled for 4 p.m.

Head Coach Jason Van Heuklon returns for his fourth season at the helm. He brings back seven letter winners who finished 8-12 and made the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin Tournament for the second straight season. It was the first eight-win season since 2012-13.

Among the returners are two-time All-CCIW selectee, junior Amber Ehrlich (Springfield, Ill. - Glenwood), who earned second-team honors for the second straight season. The co-captain and two-time team MVP posted a record of 9-12 in singles and 12-8 at the top doubles spot with all but one match alongside fellow junior Olivia Bell (Bloomington, Ill.-Bloomington). Ehrlich finished 1-0 with now-sophomore Katie Van Heuklon (Normal. Ill. - Normal West).

The Titans welcome four new faces that will wear the Green and White. Freshmen Avery Anderson (Normal, Ill. - Normal Community), Adia Douglas (Flossmoor, Ill. - Homewood-Flossmoor), Maggie Klein (Sycamore, Ill. - Sycamore) and Elana Religioso (Mahomet, Ill. - Mahomet) are set to make their Illinois Wesleyan debuts.

This is the second straight season that the Titans and Vikings will meet. In 2024, Illinois Wesleyan won 5-2 behind a sweep in doubles and singles victories from Ehrlich, Kate Christian, then-sophomore Carly Edwards (Metamora, Ill. - Metamora Township) and then-freshman Angela Zatloka (Justice, Ill. - Argo Community), who picked up the win in her collegiate debut.

Lawrence finished 7-11 in 2024-25. This year, the Vikings (0-1) dropped their season opener to the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh, 6-1.

Results will be posted on iwusports.com upon the completion of the match.
