HOWEY-IN-THE-HILLS, Fla. - The eighth-ranked Illinois Wesleyan University men's golf team catapulted up the leaderboard Tuesday, Sept. 23 during the final round of the Division III Preview, hosted at Mission Inn Resort & Club, the home of the 2026 Division III National Championship. After firing a final round 10-under par 278, at the par-72, 6750-yard El Campeon Course, the Titans climbed from 22nd-place after their opening round into a fourth-place finish in the loaded field.

Sophomore Pablo Castro (Palatine, Ill.-Palatine) set a career best of eight-under par (64) in his final round, vaulting himself into a sixth-place finish at the prestigious event. Castro's bogey-free final round ties the 18-hole-to-par program record set by Quinn Clifford in 2022 and Griffin Pohl in 2025. Senior Aidan Healy (New Lenox, Ill.-Lincoln-Way West) and freshman Jared Code (Calgary, Alberta, Canada-Ernest Manning) recorded matching one-under 71s in the final round, while senior Michael Spitzer (Hinsdale, Ill.-Hinsdale Central) carded an even-par 72.

Oglethorpe's Jackson Hiller earned a wire-to-wire individual victory, firing an impressive 13-under for the tournament. On the team side, it was a close battle, with Illinois Wesleyan getting within two shots of the lead down the stretch.  Emory came away with the win, as Methodist and Oglethorpe finished in the top-three. IWU and Huntingdon rounded out the top-five.

IWU enjoys a weekend off before heading to the Wabash Invitational on Monday-Tuesday, October 6-7 at Broadmoor Country Club in Indianapolis.
