BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - The Illinois Wesleyan University women's tennis team (3-2, 0-2 CCIW) moves back into conference play against Millikin University (2-4, 1-3 CCIW) in Decatur, Ill. Tuesday, Sept. 23. First serve is scheduled for 2 p.m. at the Fairview Park Tennis Complex.
In IWU's last dual match at Monmouth College, IWU claimed two of the three doubles matches to take a 1-0 lead. At two doubles, sophomores Katie Van Heuklon (Normal, Ill.-Normal West) and
Gabi Lipske (Gurnee, Ill.-Mundelein) defeated Natalie Holst and Alayna McKinley 6-0. Freshmen
Adia Douglas (Flossmoor, Ill.-Homewood-Flossmoor) and
Elana Religioso (Mahomet, Ill.-Mahomet) clinched the doubles point at No. 3 doubles with a 6-0 victory over Kimber Calvert and Tiah Riggs.
In singles play, the Titans swept the six-match slate. Junior Amber Ehrlich (Springfield, Ill.-Glenwood) took down Stefanova 6-2, 6-3 at the top singles spot. Lipske defeated Labicki at two singles 6-2, 0-6, 10-8. Van Heuklon triumphed over Calvert with a 6-0 6-2 win at No. 3 singles. Junior
Olivia Bell (Bloomington, Ill.-Bloomington) defeated Holst 6-3, 6-4 at four singles. Douglas won 6-0, 6-2 over McKinley at five singles. Religioso prevailed in straight sets with a 6-1, 6-1 win over Riggs at six singles.
Last year against the Big Blue, IWU won the doubles point with victories at No. 2 and 3 doubles. Kate Christian and Lipske triumphed at No. 2 doubles, claiming the victory with a score of 7-5. The Green and White claimed the one-point decision at doubles behind a forfeit at No. 3.
In singles play, Illinois Wesleyan won five spots. Ehrlich won 6-4, 6-2 at No. 1 singles. Lipske, Christian, then-sophomore
Carly Edwards (Metamora, Ill.-Metamora Township) and then-freshman
Angela Zatloka (Justice, Ill.-Argo Community) also racked up wins in singles.
Millikin sits at 2-4 in 2025. The Big Blue most recently defeated league foe, Elmhurst, 5-1, Saturday, Sept. 20.
