Postgame Press Conference

McMINNVILLE, Ore. - The 20th-ranked Illinois Wesleyan University softball team finished off its season in the Super Regional round of the NCAA Division III Softball Tournament Friday, May 23, falling to sixth-ranked Linfield University, 11-0. The Titans storied season comes to a close with a record of 37-9, while the Wildcats punched their ticket to the NCAA Division III Softball National Championship and moved to 43-5 on the year.

Illinois Wesleyan's 2025 season featured several highs, including a program record 25-game win streak. The Titans made history as the first team in College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin history to go 16-0 in league play. The Green and White earned its highest national ranking since 2020 and swept the National Fastpitch Coaches Association Division III Player of the Week awards for the first time in program history.

Solo homeruns in the first and second innings lifted Linfield to an early 2-0 edge, before the nation's top offensive team busted the game open with an eight-run third.

Junior Anna Beckman (Bourbonnais, Ill.-Bishop McNamara) notched IWU's lone hit on the day, singling in the fourth.

In the circle, four different Titans logged innings as junior Gianna Certa (Third Lake, Ill.-Grayslake North) got the start and dropped to 19-3 as the pitcher of record. Freshman Ella Hermes (Peru, Ill.-Saint Bede Academy), sophomore Mallory Holland (Shelbyville, Ill.-Shelbyville), and junior Caroline Gatchell (Grayslake, Ill.-Carmel Catholic) also appeared for IWU.

The game marked the end of the careers of seniors Kennady Estes, Ava Khoury, and Jen Kuhn. The trio were key parts of three CCIW Regular Season Championships, three CCIW Tournament Champions, three NCAA Tournament appearances, and IWU's first regional championship and super regional appearance since 2019. Khoury graduates as the program's all-time homerun leader, while Kuhn tops the doubles chart. Kuhn also completes her career tied with Jillian Runyon atop IWU's all-time hits rankings with 226.
