BLOOMINGTON, Ill. – College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin action is all that remains of the regular season for the Illinois Wesleyan University men's lacrosse team as its conference slate opens Wednesday, April 9, with a midweek clash against the Cardinals of North Central College. The Titans CCIW opener is set for a 7:30 p.m. start inside Tucci Stadium.

With just four games left in the regular season, Illinois Wesleyan brings an 8-2 record into Wednesday's contest following a nearly two-week hiatus in competition. IWU most recently played on March 29, when the Titans defeated Adrian College 23-18 at home.

Nine Titans scored in the victory, led by reigning CCIW Offensive Player of the Week, sophomore Timothy McHugh (Orland Park, Ill.-Mount Carmel), who totaled eight points on four goals and four assists. Senior Nick Schroeder (Waunakee, Wis.-Waunakee) went 22-for-32 at the X and had a team-high 14 ground balls, while senior goalie Colin Tervo (West Linn, Ore.-West Linn) accrued 17 saves in the win.

Through 10 games, McHugh's 49 points – coming on 18 goals and 31 assists – leads the Green and White, followed by fifth-year Ike Eastburn's (Colorado Springs, Colo.-Cheyenne Mountain) 33 points on 32 goals and one assist. Additionally, McHugh's 3.10 assists per game as the Titans' key feeder not only ranks first in the conference this season, but also ranks among the top-10 nationally at No. 9.

Illinois Wesleyan's relentless defense leads the conference in both caused turnovers per game (11.80) and ground balls per game (40.90) and ranks 34th and 19th in those categories, respectively.

The Green and White's goalie room leads the CCIW in total saves with 125, led by Tervo with 108 on the season. Additionally, Tervo's 12.78 saves per game ranks second in the league and 49th nationally.

North Central brings a 6-2 record into Wednesday's meeting. The Cardinals are coming off a narrow 9-8 win over Calvin University, a team IWU defeated 18-15 in comeback fashion.

IWU's history with North Central dates back to the 2018 season, as the Titans claim a seven-game undefeated series over the Cardinals. In the most recent meeting, IWU took down NCC on the road with a six-goal cushion, 16-10. The Green and White returns nine of its 10 scorers from that game, including McHugh, fifth-year Gage Black (Peoria, Ill.-Dunlap), and senior Sam Weinberg (Highwood, Ill.-Oak Park River Forest), all of whom shared the team-high of four points against the Cardinals.

Wednesday's CCIW contest will be available via live stats and live stream. Access to both can be found here or on the men's lacrosse schedule page of iwusports.com.
