BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - The Illinois Wesleyan University softball team will trek across state lines for a doubleheader with No. 16 University of Wisconsin-Whitewater Thursday, April 3. First pitch is set for 2 p.m. at the van Steenderen Complex.

The Titans are 11-5 on the season and enter the non-conference set hot off a 4-0 record at their home tournament, March 29-30. After beating Wartburg and DePauw, March 29, IWU defeated Lake Forest 8-7 and 11-0, March 30. The nationally ranked Warhawks sit at 14-0 overall and will continue an eight-game stretch of games against College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin foes. UWW swept Carroll by scores of 8-0 and 10-3, March 27. The Warhawks will travel to Augustana, April 4, and host North Central, April 6, following Thursday's twin bill with IWU.

Illinois Wesleyan's offense is led by senior Jen Kuhn (Normal, Ill.-University High), who leads the team with a .537 batting average. Kuhn tops the team with 27 RBIs, nine doubles, and 29 hits. In all, seven Titans are hitting .314 or better this year. Freshman Bella Pinter (LaMoille, Ill.-Saint Bede Academy) is second on the team with a .381 average and paces the team with eight walks. Senior Ava Khoury (Columbia, Ill.-Columbia) has blasted a team-best three homers this season and is second with 17 runs driven in. She is hitting .348, with junior Casey Wissmiller (Bloomington, Ill.-Olympia) just behind her with a .346 clip.

Junior Gianna Certa (Third Lake, Ill.-Grayslake North), the reigning CCIW Pitcher of the Week, has tossed a team-high 38.2 innings. She holds a 2.17 earned run average with 20 strikeouts and carries a 6-1 record. Sophomore Mallory Holland (Shelbyville, Ill.-Shelbyville) owns a team-leading 2.00 ERA over 21.0 innings of work, while freshman Maddie Pool (Wheaton, Ill.-Wheaton Warrenville South) has fanned a team-best 27 over 27.1 innings. She is also limiting opponents to a .192 clip at the plate.

Illinois Wesleyan and UW-Whitewater are no strangers to one another, having played pretty regularly since 2003. The series sits at 24-15-1 in favor of the Titans, but the record is level at 7-7 when IWU is away from home. UWW and Illinois Wesleyan have split the past four meetings, with the Green and White dropping a 1-0 game at home April 6, 2024.

First pitch is scheduled for 2 p.m. at UW-Whitewater. Links to the live stream as well as live stats can be found on the softball schedule page of iwusports.com.
