Titans to take on Panthers at 12:30 p.m.

4/10/2025 4:00:00 PM

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - Eyeing its regular season finale, the Illinois Wesleyan University women's tennis team heads to Greenville, Ill. for a non-conference contest at Greenville University Saturday, April 12. Action is set to begin at 12:30 p.m. at Scott J. Burgess Tennis Complex.

The Titans (8-10) look for one final touchup before the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin Tournament begins Thursday, April 24. The Green and White most recently fell to Loras College Sunday, March 30, dropping the battle 5-2. IWU picked up points behind wins at No. 2 and 3 doubles, securing the one-point decision, and a win at No. 2 singles. At No. 2 doubles, freshmen Gabi Lipske (Gurnee, Ill.-Mundelein) and Katie Van Heuklon (Normal, Ill.-Normal West) logged a 6-1 victory. On their senior day, seniors Kate Christian (Washington, Ill.-Washington Community) and Andie Wilson (Champaign, Ill.-Centennial) notched the win at No. 3 doubles with a score of 7-5, securing the majority of the doubles matches in favor of the Titans to earn the point. Lipske continued her strong day with a win at No. 2 singles, taking her sets 7-6(4), 6-3.

IWU and GU (9-6) will meet for just the fourth time since the two teams first met in 1990. Greenville holds a slim 2-1 advantage in the series, and won the most recent meeting Sept. 18, 2021. A win Saturday would mark the most wins in a season for the Titans since the 2010-11 squad posted a 10-7 mark. The Panthers most recently downed Illinois College, 7-0, Monday, April 7.
