First pitch set for 3 p.m.

3/25/2025 5:30:00 PM

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - The Illinois Wesleyan University softball team looks to get back on track Wednesday, March 26, as the Titans travel to Illinois College for a twin bill. First pitch is scheduled for 3 p.m.

Illinois Wesleyan makes the drive down to Jacksonville, Ill. with a 6-4 record. The Green and White most recently dropped both ends of a doubleheader with 11th-ranked Trine University, March 22. IC sits even at 8-8 on the year, and, like the Titans, enter Wednesday after battling a nationally-ranked opponent. The Lady Blues split a pair of games against No. 15 Central College (Iowa), March 22.

Offensively, the Titans have been led by senior Jen Kuhn (Normal, Ill.-University High), who has earned two of the first three College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin Hitter of the Week titles. Kuhn is hitting a whopping .625 with 20 hits in 32 at bats. She also leads the team with seven doubles and 22 RBIs. Sophomore Hailey Milgazo (Poway, Calif.-Poway) and junior Anna Beckman (Bourbonnais, Ill.-Bishop McNamara) have combined for 23 of IWU's 60 runs scored this season. Milgazo, who is hitting .387 on the season, is second on the team with 11 runs, while Beckman leads the way with 12 runs scored. Freshman Bella Pinter (LaMoille, Ill.-Saint Bede Academy) carries a .350 batting average through the first 10 games of her collegiate career. She also leads the team in walks with seven.

In the circle, four Titans have thrown double-digit innings. The freshman duo of Maddie Pool (Wheaton, Ill.-Wheaton Warrenville South) and Ella Hermes (Peru, Ill.-Saint Bede Academy) pace the staff in strikeouts with 10 and nine, respectively. Hermes has fanned nine over 11.2 innings of work over two appearances. She is holding opponents to a .105 batting average and has yet to give up an earned run. Sophomore Mallory Holland (Shelbyville, Ill.-Shelbyville) is second on the team with a 0.91 ERA over four appearances and 15.1 innings. Junior Gianna Certa (Grayslake, Ill.-Grayslake North) tops the team with a 3-1 record, having made four starts.

Illinois Wesleyan and IC are no strangers to each other, as the two have met 24 times ahead of Wednesday's double feature. IWU has won nine straight against Illinois College, dating back to the 2017 season. The Titans swept last year's twin bill, 11-8 and 13-8, in Bloomington March 26, 2024.

First pitch is scheduled for 3 p.m. Wednesday, March 26. Links to the live stream of the game as well as live stats can be found on the softball schedule page of iwusports.com.
