Wednesday’s game set for 6 p.m. MT in Colorado Springs

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. – The Illinois Wesleyan University men's lacrosse team travels to Colorado Springs, Colo. for a two-game week over spring break. The Titans will face Colorado College first Wednesday, March 12 at 6 p.m. MT at Washburn Field before a neutral site game with Ursinus College on Friday, March 14.

IWU brings a 6-0 record into the week following the Green and White's 11-6 win over Wabash Wednesday, March 5. A trio of Titan fifth-years shared the team-lead with three points apiece with Gage Black (Peoria, Ill.-Dunlap) and Ike Eastburn (Colorado Springs, Colo.-Cheyenne Mountain) both scoring three goals, while Bob Boone (Los Angeles, Calif.-Notre Dame) totaled two goals and an assist. Senior Nick Schroeder (Waunakee, Wis.-Waunakee) led the team with six ground balls while going 11-for-16 at the X.

Junior Billy McHugh (Orland Park, Ill.-Mount Carmel) recorded a team-leading five caused turnovers while adding five ground balls. In goal, senior Colin Tervo (West Linn, Ore.-West Linn) had seven saves on a .538 save percentage.

Despite ranking in the top-25 nationally in points (132) and assists (49), it is IWU's defense that continues to impress this season. In addition to limiting its opponents to 52 goals compared to IWU's 83 through six games, the Titans rank 15th nationally in ground balls (233) and 22nd in Division III and first in the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin with 12.83 caused turnovers per game.

IWU also ranks 21st nationally in faceoff win percentage (.699), leading the CCIW. The Titans are led by Schroeder, who ranks 21st in Division III individually with a .700 faceoff win percentage. Sophomore Timothy McHugh (Orland Park, Ill.-Mount Carmel) holds the highest assists per game average in the CCIW (3.50) and ranks eighth across Division III this season.

Colorado College, the host for the week, enters Wednesday's contest with a 4-3 record. The Tigers are most recently coming off a 14-8 loss against No. 17 St. John Fisher.

IWU's game against CC will be the third meeting between the two teams with the Titans holding the 2-0 advantage over the Tigers. Just a season ago, Illinois Wesleyan won the tight battle with CC, 17-15, in Colorado Springs. Black turned in a career day in that matchup, setting career-highs with 10 points and seven goals while adding three assists to his stat line. T. McHugh was good for eight points on a clean four-goal, four-assist split. Then-junior Nick Horrocks (Boulder, Colo.-Fairview) led the Titans on a career day with four caused turnovers and four ground balls.

The Green and White's midweek clash is set for a 6 p.m. MT start at Washburn Field. The contest will be available via live stats and live stream. Access to both live stats and live stream can be found here or on the men's lacrosse schedule page of iwusports.com.
