BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - The Illinois Wesleyan University women's basketball team is ranked 17th nationally according to the latest rankings released by D3hoops.com Monday night, Nov. 24. IWU accrued 182 points.
The top-four spots in the poll held steady as NYU led the list with 614 points and 17 first-place votes. Second-ranked Scranton pulled in seven first-place nods and tallied 604 points, while the final first-place vote went to No. 3 UW-Oshkosh (556). Illinois Wesleyan was joined in the rankings by College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin foe Carroll as the Pios checked in at No. 23.
The Titans hold a 2-2 standing on the season, with both losses coming to nationally ranked opponents. IWU has picked up wins over Trinity (Texas) and Franciscan. The Green and White's losses have come by a combined 12 points to No. 8 UW-Whitewater (60-51) and No. 11 Hope (76-73). Illinois Wesleyan's loss to the Flying Dutch came in overtime.
The Titans return to action after the holiday as host of the Midwest Challenge Saturday-Sunday, Nov. 29-30. IWU fill face off against No. 16 University of Wisconsin-La Crosse Saturday, Nov. 29, at 4 p.m. before facing either DePauw University or No. 19 WashU Sunday, Nov. 30.
