NAPERVILLE, Ill. - Illinois Wesleyan University men's golf sophomore Pablo Castro (Palatine, Ill.-Palatine) was named the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin Golfer of the Week, as announced by the league office Wednesday, Oct. 8. It is the first weekly award of his career and the third by a Titan this season.

Castro earned a sixth-place finish at the NCAA Division III Preview at Mission Inn Resort & Club in Howey-in-the-Hills, Fla. Sunday-Tuesday, Sept. 21-23. The first round was played at the par-71, 6,856-yard Las Colinas, while the final two rounds were held at the par-72, 6,750-yard El Campeon course. Castro set a career-best 54-hole best of 211 (four-under par) after his rounds of 77, 70, & 64. The Palatine, Ill. native's program-record tying 64 (eight-under) in the final round was also a career-best. In a field that included the top-15 teams in the country, Castro aided the Titans in their climb from 22nd-place after the first round to a fourth-place finish, just four strokes shy of winners, No. 6 Emory.

The Titans get back in action at the Tartan Invitational Oct. 13-14 for their last event of the fall season in Philadelphia, Pa.
