Women’s Tennis Falls to North Park

IWU concludes fall slate Wednesday, Oct. 15 against Elmhurst

CHICAGO - The Illinois Wesleyan University women's tennis team fell to North Park University, 4-3, in College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin play Saturday morning, Oct. 11, in Chicago.

The Titans swept the doubles slate to begin the contest. Juniors Amber Ehrlich (Springfield, Ill.-Glenwood) and Olivia Bell (Bloomington, Ill.-Bloomington) defeated Emilia Sand and Katarina Sandberg, 7-5. Sophomores Gabi Lipske (Gurnee, Ill.-Mundelein) and Katie Van Heuklon (Normal, Ill.-Normal West) took down Alexandra Pugachova and Thea Gifvars, 6-4 at two doubles. Freshmen Elana Religioso (Mahomet, Ill.-Mahomet) and Adia Douglas (Flossmoor, Ill.-Homewood Flossmoor) emerged victorious over Jessica Dudas and Holly Chleboun at No. 3 doubles.

In singles action, the Vikings earned wins at the top four singles spots. Religioso continued her perfect solo campaign with a 7-6 (5), 4-6, 6-4 victory over Gifvars at five singles. Douglas dominated with a 6-0, 6-1 win over Chleboun at No. 6 singles. 

The Green and White wrap up its fall season, Wednesday, Oct. 15 against Elmhurst University. First serve from Evergreen Racquet Club is scheduled for 3 p.m.
