CCIW Release

NAPERVILLE, Ill. - Following a strong performance in the Illinois Wesleyan University football team's College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin opener, sophomore quarterback Dermot Smyth (Chicago, Ill.-Marist) hauled in CCIW Offensive Player of the Week status Monday afternoon, Sept. 23. It is the first weekly award of his career and marks the first time a Titan has earned the league's weekly offensive award since running back Anthony Marre received the honor Nov. 1, 2021. Smyth is the first IWU quarterback to receive the accolade since Johnny Dicanio did so Nov. 4, 2019.

Smyth powered the Green and White to a dominating 55-7 win at Elmhurst University, Sept. 21. The sophomore QB turned in an exceptional game as he accounted for five touchdowns. Smyth completed 13-of-22 passes for 115 yards and two touchdowns, while also leading IWU's ground game with 101 yards rushing and three TDs. He is one of three players in the conference to accrue 100+ yards on the ground, with his 101 ranking third-most in the league this season.

Smyth and the Titans welcome Carthage College to Tucci Stadium Saturday, Sept. 28, for their home opener. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m.
