BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - The Illinois Wesleyan University women's tennis team welcomes Millikin University for a midweek College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin match Wednesday, Sept. 18. Action is set to begin at 4 p.m. at Evergreen Racquet Club.

Illinois Wesleyan (2-2, 0-2 CCIW) enters the bout off a 5-2 loss to North Park University Saturday morning, Sept. 14. Battling the top Vikings player, Hanna Zethraeus, sophomore Amber Ehrlich (Springfield, Ill.-Glenwood) edged out the win at No. 1 singles. Opening the contest with a 6-4 win in the first set, the Springfield, Ill. native dropped the second set, 6-2, to have to play a tiebreaker. Ehrlich took the tiebreaker, 10-5, to secure the win.

Playing in the No. 3 singles spot, sophomore Olivia Bell (Bloomington, Ill.-Bloomington) blanked her opponent, 6-0, in the first set to get ahead. North Park's Katja Carlberg snuck past Bell in the second, winning it 7-6 (5), but Bell responded by taking the tiebreaker, 11-9.

The Titans will meet Millikin (0-5, 0-2 CCIW) on the courts for the 33rd time, with the series dating back to 1989. IWU holds a commanding 24-9 advantage in the series, but the Big Blue have been the winners of the last five. The most recent meeting saw MU escape with a 6-3 win Sept. 19, 2023. Ehrlich opened individual action, taking No. 1 6-3, 7-6 (7). Then-junior Andie Wilson (Champaign, Ill.-Centennial) closed out the contest with a win at No. 6 singles, taking both sets, 6-3. The Big Blue come to town off a 7-0 loss to Augustana College Saturday, Sept. 14.
