NORMAN, Okla. - The Illinois Wesleyan University saw three student-athletes named to the Division III PING All-America teams announced by the Golf Coaches Association of America Friday, June 7. Fifth-year Bobby Beaubien (Barrington, Ill.-Barrington) garnered Third Team All-America honors, while junior Griffin Pohl (Western Springs, Ill.-Lyons Township) and Michael Spitzer (Hinsdale, Ill.-Hinsdale Central) were Honorable Mention award winners.

Beaubien reels in the honor for the second straight season after earning honorable mention last season. Pohl and Spitzer earned the distinction for the first time in their careers. The Green and White's three PING All-American selections are the most since five Titans received the honor in 2021.

Compiling Illinois Wesleyan's best scoring average of the season, Beaubien averaged 72.8 strokes per round over 28 rounds and 11 tournaments. He tallied a single-round low of 67, while totaling three top-five finishes and five top-10 placements. The College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin Men's Golfer of the Year, Beaubien won both the CCIW Preview and the CCIW Championship. He added a runner-up finish at the Millikin Butts Classic. He was also recognized as the CCIW's Golfer of the Week once this season.

Pohl was IWU's top finisher at the NCAA Division III National Championship, tying for third to mark the best national finish by a Titan since 2012. The Western Springs, Ill. native posted the lowest single round and 72-hole scoring total by a Titan at the national tournament ever. Pohl posted a scoring average of 73.0 over 28 rounds and 11 tournaments. He totaled 13 rounds of par-or-better with five top-five finishes. Pohl placed third at the Millikin Butts Classic, tied for second at the IWU Invitational and the Take Back the Night Challenge, and finished third at the CCIW Championship. In addition to All-CCIW accolades, Pohl received CCIW Golfer of the Week honors two times throughout the year.

In his first year in the lineup, Spitzer averaged 73.5 strokes per round over 22 rounds and nine tournaments. He finished runner-up at the CCIW Championship, earning all-conference honors. Spitzer totaled five top-15 finishes in all, highlighted by a strong showing at the national tournament. The Hinsdale, Ill. product tied for eighth at the NCAA Division III Championship, firing rounds of 68, 74, 72, and 69. Spitzer's total of 221 is the second-lowest at an NCAA Championship in program history, trailing only Pohl.

About PING
PING designs, manufactures and markets a complete line of golf equipment including metal woods, irons, wedges, putters and golf bags. The family-owned company was founded in 1959 in the garage of the late Karsten Solheim, a mechanical engineer with an extensive background in the aerospace and computer industries. His frustration with his putting inspired him to design his own putter, which created a "pinging" sound when striking a golf ball. This sound was the source of the name now synonymous with innovation, quality and service throughout the world of golf. Solheim and his company are credited with numerous innovations that became industry standards, including perimeter weighting, custom fitting and the use of investment casting in the manufacturing of golf clubs.  His insistence on adhering to strict engineering principles and tight manufacturing tolerances raised the level of product performance and quality throughout the golf industry.  Solheim is the only person to be inducted into the World Golf Hall of Fame as a golf club manufacturer. Today, the Phoenix-based company is under the direction of Solheim's grandson, John K. Solheim, who leads a team of more than 800 dedicated employees committed to helping improve the games of golfers around the world.
