BLOOMINGTON, Ill. – After scraping away in a one-point victory in the semifinal round, the No. 1 seeded Illinois Wesleyan University men's lacrosse team will remain on its home turf for the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin Tournament Championship game as No. 2 seed Elmhurst University makes the trip to Tucci Stadium Saturday, May 4.

IWU holds a 12-3 record headed into Saturday after battling No. 4 Carthage College in a CCIW Semifinal game on Wednesday. The Green and White pulled off the 12-11 win with senior Gage Black (Peoria, Ill.-Dunlap) leading the way with five goals. Freshman Timothy McHugh (Orland Park, Ill.-Mount Carmel) had a team-high three assists, while sophomore Noah Dretzka (Delafield, Wis.-Kettle Moraine) totaled four points with a pair of goals and assists each. Junior Colin Tervo (West Linn, Ore.-West Linn) posted a 17-save game while also leading the Titans with seven ground balls.

Elmhurst (13-3, 4-1 CCIW) faced a tough challenge in third-seeded North Central College for its semifinal game, coming back from a six-goal deficit to defeat NCC 13-11.

IWU is vying for its sixth CCIW Tournament title while Elmhurst is making only its second appearance in the championship game, and its first since the 2019 season when the Titans ultimately defeated the Bluejays 25-18.

The Green and White holds a 12-1 advantage in the series record with Elmhurst. After dropping its inaugural meeting with the Bluejays, IWU has not let up, winning 11 consecutive games including its most recent contest, April 20, when the Titans defeated EU 15-13 inside Tucci Stadium.

Elmhurst brings the CCIW Offensive Player of the Year, Eli Spence and the Bluejay offense, back to Bloomington for the second time this season to go head-to-head with senior Michael Campagna (Arlington Heights, Ill.-Saint Viator) who leads IWU's unrelenting defense as the CCIW Defensive Player of the Year.
