Women’s Tennis Hosts Elmhurst for CCIW Tournament Play-In Game

First serve scheduled for 3 p.m. at Evergreen Racquet Club

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - In preparation for the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin Tournament, the Illinois Wesleyan University women's tennis team hosts Elmhurst University for a play-in game Sunday, April 14. First serve is scheduled for 3 p.m. at Evergreen Racquet Club. 

The Titans (6-10, 1-7 CCIW) look to advance to the CCIW Tournament, which Illinois Wesleyan is hosting at Evergreen Racquet Club Thursday-Saturday, April 25-27. In its most recent contest, IWU fell to SUNY Geneseo, 8-1, Thursday, March 14. The freshmen duo of Amber Ehrlich (Springfield, Ill.-Glenwood) and Olivia Bell (Bloomington, Ill.-Bloomington) picked up the win at No. 1 doubles with a score of 8-3. 

The Green and White will meet the Bluejays on the court for the 34th time, with the Titans owning a 25-8 advantage in the series. Most recently, IWU claimed a 7-2 victory over EU Wednesday, Oct. 4. Ehrlich and Bell kicked off the match with an 8-3 victory at No. 1 doubles. Freshman Carly Edwards (Metamora, Ill.-Metamora Township) and junior Andie Wilson (Champaign, Ill.-Centennial) got the win at No. 2 doubles with a set score of 8-1. In singles action, IWU was victorious at No. 1, 2, 3, 5, and 6. Ehrlich posted the win at No. 1, while sophomore Kate Christian (Washington, Ill.-Washington Community) secured the victory at No. 2 individuals. Bell, Edwards, and Wilson claimed the wins at No. 2, 5, and 6, respectively, to close out the win for the Titans. Elmhurst comes to Bloomington, Ill., bearing a 0-8 record, 0-7 in CCIW action. 

Illinois Wesleyan will honor its lone senior, Macy Michorczyk, prior to the start of the match.

The winner of Sunday's contest will advance to the CCIW Tournament Quarterfinals and will face top-seeded North Central College Thursday, April 25. The ERC provides a live stream of all of its courts, which can be accessed by clicking here.
