Duo tied for second at IWU Invitational

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - Illinois Wesleyan University junior men's golfers Griffin Pohl (Western Springs, Ill.-Lyons Township) and Quinn Clifford (Chicago, Ill.-Brother Rice) were named College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin Co-Golfers of the Week Wednesday, April 10. Pohl picks up the weekly award for the first time in his career, while Clifford reels it in for the third time.

Overall, IWU has seen six weekly awards come its way this season as Pohl, Clifford, Raj Sethi, Jackson Hulsey, and Bobby Beaubien have all received the recognition.

Behind the strong play of Pohl and Clifford, Illinois Wesleyan won its home tournament by a 24-stroke margin, April 6, to top the 37-team standings. The duo tied for second individually, finishing one stroke out of medalist honors. Pohl carded a one-under 70 at Weibring Golf Club on day two of the event after shooting a 71 at Ironwood the day prior, while Clifford fired a 70 at Ironwood before shooting an even-par 71 at Weibring.

The Titans return to action Monday-Tuesday, April 15-16, at the Cochran Collegiate hosted by Rhodes College in Memphis, Tenn.
