Men’s Volleyball Fades in Loss to No. 10 Firebirds

Titans host No. 11 North Central, March 16, at 3 p.m.

KENOSHA, Wis. - The Illinois Wesleyan University men's volleyball team could not keep pace with 10th-ranked Carthage College Saturday, March 9, inside Tarble Arena. IWU (10-9, 1-3 CCIW) was swept by Carthage (8-5, 2-1 CCIW) in straight sets by scores of 25-20, 25-12, and 25-18.

The Titans finished with 27 kills, but were stymied to a .070 attacking percentage. Meanwhile the Firebirds collected 40 kills on a .421 clip. CC held a 12-2 lead in blocks, a 32-22 edge in digs, and notched 36 assists to IWU's 25.

Senior Michael Eastman (Chicago, Ill.-St. Ignatius) led the Green and White with 11 kills on a .292 attacking percentage. He also added four digs. Sophomore Jace Milka (Bolingbrook, Ill.-Plainfield East) was the dig leader with seven, while also notching a pair of kills. Junior Vince DiCosola (Aurora, Ill.-Oswego East) orchestrated much of the attack, finishing with a team-high 15 assists.

The Titans continue the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin gauntlet one week from today, March 16, with a home match against 11th-ranked North Central College. First serve is set for 3 p.m.
