BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - After a lengthy hiatus, the Illinois Wesleyan University softball team returns to action Saturday, March 16, with a doubleheader at Emory University. First pitch is slated for 12 p.m. ET.

The Titans roll into the twin bill even at 4-4 on the season. IWU last played six games over four days at the NFCA Leadoff Classic in Columbus, Ga. There, the Green and White closed out the weekend with wins over Wartburg and No. 3 Berry, March 3. Meanwhile, Emory is off to an 8-4 start to the year. The Eagles most recently swept Spalding by scores of 7-4 and 5-1 on the road, March 13.

Offensively, junior Jen Kuhn (Normal, Ill.-University High) and sophomore Casey Wissmiller (Bloomington, Ill.-Olympia) have led the Titans. Kuhn is hitting a team-best .481 with a slugging of .704 on on-base percentage sitting at .500, both of which lead the team. Wissmiller is boasting a .429 batting average with a team-high six RBIs. Freshman Hailey Milgazo (Poway, Calif.-Poway) has slid in nicely at the leadoff spot, where she is hitting .364 with a team-high six runs scored. Milgazo is also the team-leader with four stolen bases.

In the circle, the sophomore duo of Gianna Certa (Third Lake, Ill.-Grayslake North) and Caroline Gatchell (Grayslake, Ill.-Carmel Catholic) have paced IWU. Certa holds a team-leading .64 earned run average with 20 strikeouts to one walk. She is 2-1 on the season and has held opponents to a .192 average with just one extra-base hit. Gatchell is 1-1 with a 2.80 ERA and a dozen Ks on the year.

Illinois Wesleyan and Emory have met three times previously, with the Titans holding a 2-1 lead. The Green and White won the initial meeting, 1-0, at the NCAA Division III World Series in Salem, Va., before splitting a doubleheader in Atlanta March 16, 2004. Emory nabbed a 3-1 win in the first leg, but Illinois Wesleyan battled back with a 2-0 victory in the nightcap.

Saturday's game will be live streamed, while live stats will also be available. Links can be found on the softball schedule page of iwusports.com.
