Men’s Lacrosse Set to Host Aurora

Game time at Tucci Stadium slated for 1 p.m.

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. – After a promising start to its two-game home slate against Benedictine Wednesday, Feb 28, the Illinois Wesleyan University men's lacrosse team readies to host Aurora University Saturday, March 2 for a midday matchup inside Tucci Stadium.

The Green and White are coming off a dominating 24-8 win over Benedictine that moved IWU to 1-2 on the young season, while Benedictine fell to 0-2. Sophomore Andrew Ortega (Austin, Texas-Westlake) achieved a career-best nine points on six goals and three assists. Senior Gage Black (Peoria, Ill.-Dunlap) scored seven points on a career-high three goals and a career-best four assists. Freshman Timothy McHugh (Orland Park, Ill.-Mount Carmel) scored five points against the Eagles while tallying a team-high nine ground balls. Defensively, the Titans were led by juniors Nick Horrocks (Boulder, Colo.-Fairview) with three caused turnovers. Junior Colin Tervo (West Linn, Ore.-West Linn) opened the match in the net totaling seven saves before senior Alex Oximana (Seattle, Wash.-Bishop Blanchet) added nine saves. Junior Segen Chambers (Chico, Calif.-Jesuit) had one stop in his net appearance. 

Through three games, Black leads the Titans with 14 points off of six goals and eight assists with Ortega following closely with 11 points on six goals and five assists. Senior Ike Eastburn (Colorado Springs, Colo.-Cheyenne Mountain) holds the team-lead eight goals. At the X, senior Zo Lombardo (Elgin, Ill.-Saint Viator) is 20-29 with a .690 clip. Tervo has spent the most time between the posts this season, totaling 34 saves on a .515 saves percentage.

Aurora enters Saturday's match with a 1-1 record on the year after defeating University of Dubuque Saturday, Feb. 24, 13-12.

IWU boasts a 7-4 advantage in the all-time series against Aurora, including a six-game win streak. The most recent meeting with the Spartans saw the Titans seal the 19-10 victory thanks to then-juniors Eastburn's seven goals and Trystan Seeley's (Castle Rock, Colo.-Castle View) five.
