BLOOMINGTON, Ill. – After a pair of games on the road to kick off the 2024 season, the Illinois Wesleyan University men's lacrosse team is set to host Benedictine University, Wednesday, Feb. 28, for the Titans' first game inside Tucci Stadium this season. The men's game is set for 7 p.m. and will serve as the second half of a doubleheader with the IWU women's lacrosse team.

IWU is looking to flip the script on a 0-2 start to the season after most recently falling to Sewanee: The University of the South Saturday, Feb. 24 in a narrow 13-12 showing. Junior Sam Weinberg (Highwood, Ill.-Oak Park River Forest) led the team with four goals while seniors Ike Eastburn (Colorado Springs, Colo.-Cheyenne Mountain) notched three and Gage Black (Peoria, Ill.-Dunlap) had two. Freshman Timothy McHugh (Orland Park, Ill.-Mount Carmel), seniors Trystan Seeley (Castle Rock, Colo.-Castle View), and Jayden Erie (Duluth, Minn.-Denfeld) all got in on the scoring action with one goal apiece. Junior Colin Tervo (West Linn, Ore.-West Linn) manned the net against the Tigers, where he totaled 15 saves.

The Titans' last matchup against the Eagles came exactly one year ago to the day, a contest that saw IWU flourish in a 19-10 victory. Six returning Titans took part in scoring those 19 goals and returning goalkeeper, Tervo had 11 stops against the Eagles, Feb. 28, 2023. IWU holds a 3-0 series record against Benedictine and has an average of 24 goals per game across the three meetings.

The Green and White's home opener on Wednesday, Feb. 28 is set for a 7 p.m. start at Tucci Stadium following the IWU women's lacrosse game against Aurora at 4 p.m.

The match will be available via live stats and live stream. Access to both live stats and live stream can be found here or on the men's lacrosse schedule page of iwusports.com.
