Men’s Volleyball Downed by 15th-Ranked Dominican

Titans fall in straight sets on the road

RIVER FALLS, Ill. - The Illinois Wesleyan University men's volleyball team fell in straight sets (25-18, 25-19, 25-23) at 15th-ranked Dominican University, Tuesday night, Feb. 20. With the loss, IWU falls to 8-6, while the Stars improve to 5-6.

Illinois Wesleyan finished with 31 kills, while being stifled to a .187 attack percentage, as Dominican notched 36 on a .297 clip. The Stars edged out IWU in assists (29-27), aces (6-4), digs (28-27), and blocks (5-2). 

Senior Michael Eastman (Chicago, Ill.-Saint Ignatius) led the offense with a match-high 14 kills on an impressive .333 attack percentage, along with a pair of aces. Senior Julian Perez (Orland Park, Ill.-Carl Sandburg) finished with six kills with just one error committed on 11 swings to finish with a .455 clip. Junior Vince DiCosola (Aurora, Ill.-Oswego East) notched 17 of the Titans' 27 assists. 

On the defensive side, sophomore Jace Milka (Bolingbrook, Ill.-Plainfield East) accumulated a team-best eight digs. Eastman and freshman Brenden Reutter (Frankfort, Ill.-Lincoln-Way East) each finished with four. Senior Javier Romano (Prospect Heights, Ill.-Wheeling) posted a pair of blocks.

The Titans return to action a week from tomorrow, Wednesday, Feb. 28, as Illinois Wesleyan will host Loras College in the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin season opener. First serve is scheduled for 7 p.m. inside Shirk Center.
