BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - Coming off the Illinois Wesleyan University Invitational Friday-Saturday, Feb. 9-10, the IWU men's volleyball team will hit the road to Mequon, Wis., to take on Concordia University Wisconsin Tuesday night, Feb. 13. First serve is scheduled for 7 p.m. inside R. John Buuck Field House.
Illinois Wesleyan enters Tuesday's contest with an overall record of 7-4, most recently falling to Wabash College in the Green and White's finale at the IWU Invitational. Junior
Jake Kougan (Frankfort, Ill.-Lincoln-Way East) turned in a strong performance, finishing with eight kills on a .545 clip. Freshman
Bryce Williams (Chicago, Ill.-Whitney M. Young) added six kills of his own. Freshman
Brenden Reutter (Frankfort, Ill.-Lincoln-Way East) recorded a team-high 11 assists, with senior
Bradley Benson (Lemont, Ill.-Lemont Township) adding eight and seven, along with a team-best two aces.
Senior
Michael Eastman (Chicago, Ill.-Saint Ignatius) has led the offense this season, having recorded a team-best 113 kills, and is currently averaging 3.14 kills per set on a .276 attack percentage. Eastman recorded his 750th career kill for the Titans against Edgewood College Saturday, Feb. 10. Williams is second on the team with 91, while Kougan rounds out the top-three with 72 kills on the year.
The Titan offense has been primarily orchestrated by junior
Vince DiCosola (Aurora, Ill.-Oswego East) and Reutter, who have 161 and 150 assists, respectively. Eastman leads the Titans with 13 aces, while Kougan closely trails with 11, and Benson's seven are the third-most on the team. Benson is also third in assists, having recorded 58 in 13 sets played.
Defensively, sophomore
Jace Milka (Bolingbrook, Ill.-Plainfield East) leads IWU with 100 digs, averaging 2.63 per set. Eastman's 69 are good for second, while Williams is third with 46. The Titans have seen a strong net presence from Kougan and senior
Javier Romano (Prospect Heights, Ill.-Wheeling), who have 31 and 26 blocks, respectively. Senior
Julian Perez (Orland Park, Ill.-Carl Sandburg) has 18 stuffs to round out the top-three.
CUW (2-5) comes into Tuesday's match off a loss to College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin foe 13th-ranked Carthage College, falling in four sets Saturday, Feb. 10. This will be the first meeting between the Titans and the Falcons.
