Women’s Tennis Sweeps Alverno

Titans improve to 3-4 overall

MILWAUKEE, Wis. - Playing in its second dual in as many days, the Illinois Wesleyan University women's tennis team took down Alverno College, 9-0, Saturday, Sept. 23. With the win, the Titans improve to 3-4 overall, while Alverno drops to 0-7.

Freshmen Amber Ehrlich (Springfield, Ill.-Glenwood) and Olivia Bell (Bloomington, Ill.-Bloomington) opened the match with an 8-1 victory at No. 1 doubles. The sophomore duo of Kate Christan (Washington, Ill.-Washington Community) and Raji More (Bloomington, Ill.-Normal Community) matched that performance, picking up the win at No. 2 pairs, 8-1. Freshman Carly Edwards (Metamora, Ill.-Metamora Township) and junior Andie Wilson (Champaign, Ill.-Centennial) completed the doubles sweep with an 8-0 victory in the No. 3 spot.

Ehrlich and Christian made quick work of No. 1 and No. 2 singles, respectively, taking each of their sets 6-0. Bell secured the win at No. 3 individuals with set scores 6-1, 6-0, while More added the win at No. 4, taking both sets, 6-0. Edwards picked up her first collegiate solo victory, taking No. 5 singles, 6-0, 6-0. Wilson closed out the match for the Green and White at No. 6, winning with set scores 6-1, 6-0.

The Titans will enjoy a week off before traveling to Monmouth, Ill. for a dual against Monmouth College on Tuesday, Oct. 3. First serve is scheduled for 4 p.m. at the Monmouth Tennis Stadium.
