Men’s Soccer Earns Draw with Carthage

IWU heads on the road Tuesday at Wabash

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - The Illinois Wesleyan University men's soccer team battled the Carthage College Firebirds this Saturday, Sept. 23 that ended in a 1-1 tie between the two teams.

During the first half the Titan and the Firebirds played very evenly. At the 30 minute mark freshman Matthew Perchik (Glenview, Ill.-New Trier) played a beautiful ball to fellow freshman Faheem Mujahid (St. Robert, Mo.-Waynesville) who dribbled it one-on-one half way down the field and then tapped it straight past the goalie and into the goal to put the Titans ahead 1-nil at half.

The first four minutes of the second half saw the Firebirds capitalize and score with a header into the top left corner of the goal. Carthage held the Titans scoreless in the second half ending the game in a tie.

Sophomore Sam Kedzior (Cary, Ill.-Cary Grove) played 90 minutes in between the pipes and totaled eight saves and one goal allowed.

The Titans take on Wabash on Tuesday, Sept. 26. Game time is slated for 3 p.m. CST at Fischer Field.
