BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - The Illinois Wesleyan University men's soccer team opens its 2023 season at home Friday, Sept. 1 with a non-conference dual against Washington University in St. Louis. Game time is set for 7:30 p.m. under the lights at Neis Field and will serve as the second leg of a double feature with the IWU women's soccer team.
Head coach Kyle Schauls, the program's all-time wins leader, enters his 10th season at the helm.
Chad Jones joins Schaul's staff as the new assistant coach, after a run as head coach at Millikin University for eight years (2011-2019).
Returning sophomore Kalabi Kamau (Alpharetta, Ga.-Marist School) was a Second Team All-College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin selection a year ago and will look to build on his strong freshman season. Captains
Ethan Fineman (Highland Park, Ill.-Highland Park),
Justin Hart (Morton, Ill.-Morton), and
Ryan Miller (Shingle Springs, Calif.-Oak Ridge) will be big contributors to the team as well. Overall, the Titans are returning 25 players from the 2022 team, including seven seniors. IWU also ushers in seven newcomers.
